Ya know what kills blogging in me? It’s social networking, especially Facebook. It makes you post about stuffs in such a convenient manner than I’ve been pretty lazy to blog, thus making my domain pretty useless. Anyways, enough of the sob story.
Last night, I attended Sunidhi Chauhan in concert, part of the Kalaa Utsavam - Indian festival of arts at Esplanade. I went with a friend and it was my first event in the Esplanade, given that I’m not a big fan of the arts. I was pleasantly surprised that the cheapest tickets got me pretty good seats. It was close to the stage and perfectly slightly elevated with no blockage. The only downside was that I had to turn my head about 20 degrees to face the stage. Not a biggie here.
Sunidhi is known to sing high-voltage popular item numbers and this show was no different. With the exception of a few slow beautiful songs like Mere Haath Main from the movie Fanaa, all other songs were fast paced, and that leads me thinking that the venue could have been an open space where people can dance along. She sang a few of my favorites like Dance Pe Chance from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Crazy Kiya Re from Dhoom2 and the ever popular Beedi from Omkara. Below is a snapshot of the finale when she sang Beedi:
As you can see, everyone enjoyed the night (probably with the exception of those who paid lots for the tickets to see people dancing in front of them.. LOL). The finale was an unforgettable experience as Sunidhi sang the song in her own style with a little pinch of interactivity.
The Festival of Indian Arts happens every year after Deepavali and I will definitely keep a lookout for such events that might appeal to me. Below is a video of the Beedi finale. Pardon the audio as it was taken covertly with my humble mobile phone:
