Bored? Chat with a robot via SMS
Posted Saturday, August 25, 2001 - 2:45 PM by Imran
Sick of playing inane games on your mobile phone? Now, you can hold inane SMS conversations with a non-person instead!
And just when you think that SMS has exhausted all of its functions, a Singapore-based start-up is launching yet another SMS application--a money-generating "robot" called "Sally".

The “chatbot”, conceived by wireless and Internet communications company Buzzcity, is equipped with what the company terms "artificial intelligence" (A.I.), and is designed to understand your questions and hold an entertaining SMS conversation with you.

Earthquake caused by jumping kids??
Posted Monday, August 13, 2001 - 10:17 PM by Imran
LONDON - British children are being given the chance to jump into the world record books later this year when thousands of them leap up and down at the same time to create a minor earthquake.

The impact will be measured on the Richter scale by British Geological Survey seismologists, and the Guinness Book of Records will be recording it as the 'greatest simultaneous jump in history', and a world's first for Britain.

Here's the full story.

Robot from NTU sees world like a human
Posted Monday, August 13, 2001 - 10:14 PM by Imran
HARO the robot can carry out simple tasks and get them right the first time. This means that if Haro, which stands for human-alike robot, wants to go through a doorway, it does not have to stop to check its direction.

Most robots cannot do this, says Associate Professor Xie Ming, 38, of Nanyang Technological University's school of mechanical and production engineering.

Heatsink Physics Guide
Posted Monday, August 13, 2001 - 10:01 PM by Imran
This is an excellent detailed guide to heatsinks which are attached onto your processors. This guide tells you how they work and the science behind them. Radiation and convection.. they have it all.
The purpose of a heatsink is to gather heat from the CPU. Just like cooking on the stove, the pan gathers heat from the burner beneath. In the case of a pan, even heating is the key concern; with heatsinks, this applies to a certain extent, but it's not like we're trying to cook the perfect crepe or anything. As long as heat is being taken away very quickly from the CPU, we are happy.

Attract the opposite sex!
Posted Sunday, August 12, 2001 - 3:52 PM by Imran
I found this website that sells a product that seems to be a type of oil. Called Pheromone Oil, it can be used as a perfume and the smell will attract the opposite sex. There's one to attract men and another to attract women. So you gotta be careful which one you use! It's stated to be science, not magic. Check it out here!
Imagine yourself being simply irresistible to sexy men or women (whichever you desire)... Getting more eye contact, more smiles, more conversations, more flirting, more sex. Sound impossible? Not anymore!

The very first time I used the pheromone concentrate, I was shocked at what my eyes were seeing! Almost every woman I came into contact with smiled and actually initiated conversations. ....

Posession of a recruit
Posted Saturday, August 11, 2001 - 9:35 PM by Imran
This is relatively a long story. I experienced seeing a recruit in camp being possesed. Felt pretty wierd about that.
One of my friends, (a recruit) came up to me asked me to come over to his bunk. One of the recruits could not wake up at all. Instead, he started shivering, making faces as if he was so sad, crying and laughing. His closed fists were also almost impossible to open!
